Wilson County approves economic incentive payments for three companies

Jennifer Lance, the county's economic development counselor, presented the items. She said Pamlico Air (also identified as Mann + Hummel in the presentation) received a final allocation of $15,000 after investing $4,000,000 and creating 100 full-time jobs with an average salary of $34,000.
Lance described a first allocation for Construct Incorporated of $14,000 tied to a $2,750,000 investment and creation of 25 jobs; Lance noted the average wage for those positions is about $20 per hour. The board heard that John Barbee, owner of Construct Incorporated, had recently been named the chamber of commerce small business award winner of the year.
The third approved allocation was for Nutrien Ag Solutions (referred to in the presentation as Nutrien Ag Solutions Incorporated), a $35,000 incentive tied to an estimated $10,000,000 investment and creation of 12 new jobs with an average salary of $32,000.
Each incentive was presented, motioned and approved by voice vote. Staff described these as allocation payments consistent with previously established incentive agreements; no additional county funding obligations beyond the allocations presented were described at the meeting.
