Wilson County awards $2.113 million bid for sheriff's training center to Farrier & Sons

The Wilson County Board of Commissioners voted June 2 to award the construction contract for the Wilson County Sheriff's Office Training Center to Farrier & Sons for $2,113,000, the lowest of eleven bids, county engineer Birjish Chawari told the board.
Birjish Chawari, Wilson County engineer, said the project scope includes an approximately 12,500-square-foot building with a training room (32 seats), an office, break room and restrooms; roughly 7,000 square feet of storage that could be converted to an indoor gun range if a future grant is received; improvements to the outdoor shooting range; and water search-and-rescue training access. "If awarded today, Farrier and Sons is expected to break the ground in July and ... complete the project in 9 months," Chawari said.
Chawari clarified that the $2,113,000 figure represents the base bid plus Alternate 1 (outdoor gun range improvements) and Alternate 2 (water search-and-rescue access). He noted there is an additional Alternate 4 (pond aerator) that could be implemented later if funding becomes available.
A motion to award the base bid plus alternates 1 and 2 to Farrier & Sons was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. The county will coordinate contract execution and construction scheduling through the engineering office.
