Klamath County approves bid package and authorizes survey/engineering work for fairgrounds maintenance shop

The Klamath County Board of Commissioners approved an invitation to bid Tuesday for a new 2,400-square-foot prefabricated maintenance shop at the Klamath County Fairgrounds and authorized hiring a surveying and engineering firm.

Derek Bridal, representing the fairgrounds, told the board the fairgrounds was awarded a Business Oregon grant to build the shop on the north side of the fairgrounds. The project includes electrical, water and sanitary sewer improvements, earthwork and paving; the county will accept bids to furnish all labor, equipment and materials for the project at 3531 South Sixth Street.

The board approved the invitation to bid package and any subsequent addenda. Commissioners then authorized the fairgrounds director to sign a professional-services agreement with Ryan Cross Group LLC for surveying and engineering services; the board record lists a fiscal impact of $14,800 to the fairgrounds facilities improvement line to cover the firm’s work. County staff said expenditures up to $277,777 of the total project cost will be paid from the fairgrounds facilities improvement operating fund and reimbursed through the Business Oregon grant.

Both motions passed with the chair voting aye. The fairgrounds director and the fair board will manage bid solicitations and contract oversight; staff indicated no additional county general-fund impact beyond the grant-reimbursed amounts stated in the record.

The board also approved a separate direct-appointment policy to hire Ryan Cross Group per county policy for projects of this type.
