A Rocky Point resident told the Klamath County Board of Commissioners during public comment that a property owner has repeatedly blocked the end of Greylock, a public road that provides egress to Forest Service lands.
David Carpenter identified himself as a resident of Rocky Point and said he has documented the obstruction with photos and written statements. "It is back again with rocks, debris, and it is an access to the forest," Carpenter said, describing past instances that included barbed wire and moved obstructions. He said other access points are at least a mile away, which raised concerns about emergency access in the event of wildfire.
Carpenter said he had spoken with the head of public works and brought materials to show the commissioners. Commissioner Minty noted that Commissioner Nichols is the liaison to public works and suggested Carpenter "connect with him offline." No formal action was taken during the meeting; staff were advised to follow up through the public works liaison.
Carpenter said he has lived in the area five years and that neighbors may also provide statements documenting the obstruction. The board did not hold a question-and-answer session during public comment; commissioners asked staff to follow up outside the meeting.
