At the Feb. 20 Glendale Town Council meeting staff reported the town’s pipeline delivery was still several weeks away and that recent cold weather had caused freeze-related breaks on some service lines.
Council members said they unearthed a service line that was only 6 to 8 inches below ground, which they described as unusually shallow and likely to have contributed to freezing. The town’s water samples were reported as passing state requirements.
Councilmembers discussed possible solutions to improve pressure and storage. Jones and Demille are working on a grant application for a new well and tank; the town noted the state engineer has emphasized the need for a new ground tank because of pressure concerns in upper areas (Berryville referenced in remarks). The council also discussed the possibility of placing a tank or providing a water hookup to a private property owner (the Chamberlains) as an alternative to buying a site for a tank.
No final procurement decisions were made at the meeting; councilmembers said staff will continue grant work (including a potential USDA grant) and return with updates when additional details are available.
