Councilor Gathers asked the Syracuse City Council to hold a committee meeting with the Department of Public Works after the police voting session so council members could get an update on fines the department has begun charging.
"This item is all set. What we're gonna do is we're gonna have a committee meeting, in regards to this after the police voting session, with the DPW just to get an update and tell us exactly how this is going so far," Councilor Gathers said.
Councilor Hogan responded that some council members had expected the meeting to occur before fines were imposed. "We were under the impression that we were going to get a meeting before, at the end of this before the administration started, decided to start charging fines at folks. So, I'm glad you did this," Hogan said.
The discussion occurred while the council reviewed agenda item 25. No vote on policy or fines was recorded in the transcript; councilors directed staff to schedule the committee meeting and to provide an update to the council.
The committee meeting was described as occurring after the council's police voting session; no firm date or time for the committee meeting was provided in the transcript.
