Community board sets committees, schedules meetings for bylaws, equity and reopening work

Manhattan City Community Board 2 announced the formation of several working groups and set initial meeting dates as the board prepares to handle a likely uptick in land-use and reopening matters.
The board said Susan will chair a bylaws working group with members Susan, Katie, Patricia, Matt and Kristen. Patricia and Mar will chair an equity working group; members identified included Akila, Katie, Amy, Betty, Matt, Sandy and Anthony. The equity working group's inaugural meeting is scheduled for July 30, according to the meeting.
Board leaders also discussed a reopening working group and said they plan an informational daytime webinar with representatives from NYU and The New School. The reopening working group has a proposed meeting date in late July; the board discussed shifting some informational items to daytime formats so more participants can attend. Members stressed the group's intent to develop an "anti-racist" policy line and to organize outreach and public-facing events outside standard meeting hours when appropriate.
Other procedural items: the bylaws committee agreed to hold shorter, more frequent meetings to draft language and return proposed changes to the full committee; the board also confirmed committee schedules for SLA, land use, parks, and senior services and noted it may need a full-board meeting in August if committees begin to process multiple land-use applications.
