The Huron City Commission on Feb. 3 approved the second reading of an ordinance updating yard requirements, including limits on the height of primary residential structures in residential districts and a new requirement that churches install a six-foot opaque fence.
City planner Barry Cranston told commissioners the ordinance addresses two primary items: height limits for primary residential structures within residential districts and a requirement for churches to install a six-foot opaque fence. “This basically dealt with 2 primary items,” Cranston said, and staff recommended approval after receiving no pushback during the review process.
Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the ordinance at second reading. The roll-call recorded votes of Commissioner Smith (aye), Commissioner Weinreich (aye), Commissioner Harvey (aye) and Mayor Roberts (aye).
The ordinance was presented at second reading; Cranston and staff said there had been no formal objections reported and recommended adoption. The commission took no amendments during the session.
The measure advances the city’s yard-standards update to the next procedural step after a second-reading approval.
