The Board of Trustees of the Village of Ballston Spa approved the minutes of the Feb. 24, 2025 meeting by a 4–1 voice vote and carried a set of routine motions including appointments, equipment purchases, and a seasonal hire.
The minutes motion was moved by Trustee Mandesa and seconded by Trustee Bridal Bush; the board approved it 4–1 after Trustee Bridal Bush objected to how the prior LUMAC vote was recorded and asked that written statements submitted to the clerk be attached to the minutes. Bridal Bush said in public comment during the minutes discussion, "I do object to the word accused in the minutes that Satya made," and raised other accuracy concerns about how a contract date change was described.
Other motions carried without extended debate. Highlights recorded in the meeting minutes and approved during the meeting include: - Authorize Eagleman/Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 to allow a private event at the firehouse on March 15 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (motion seconded by Trustee Pundeza; motion carries). - Appoint Brett T. Brogan as a member of Eagleman/Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 (motion seconded; motion carries). - Authorize DPW to spend $1,640 for two radio headsets (motion carries). - Authorize the library to spend $2,828 for monitoring functions (motion carries). - Authorize the library to expend $15,478.87 for displays, furniture and supplies (motion carries). - Authorize DPW to spend $11,800 for telemetering equipment and installation on Lowell Street (motion carries). - Preauthorize $3,168 for an upgrade to Microsoft security on or after June 1, 2025; the packet noted the current annual cost is $2,007.12 (motion carries; mayor authorized to execute related paperwork). - Approve seasonal hiring of Nicholas Delaney as a DPW intern/part-time employee through the BOCES program; the mayor was authorized to execute related paperwork (motion carries).
The meeting record shows routine roll-call-style confirmations of "Aye" for each of these motions; the minutes vote on Feb. 24 was the only item recorded as opposed by a named trustee. Trustee Bridal Bush requested that the written statement she submitted be attached to the published minutes as required by prior board policy; trustees discussed adherence to the policy but took no additional board action at the March 10 meeting beyond approving the minutes as corrected.
The board also noted several departmental reports and routine procurement updates during the meeting; these were received and documented in the meeting packet but required no separate vote.
