Montezuma County authorizes road purchase bids, signs ASI chip‑seal contract

The Montezuma County Board of County Commissioners on March 11 authorized Road and Bridge to pursue two purchases: a snow‑plow available through an online auction and an ASI Asphalt Systems Inc. contract for chip‑seal material.

At the start of the meeting the board added two items to the agenda after an earlier workshop with road and bridge staff: authorization for the county to buy a snow‑plow and formal signing of the ASI contract. Commissioners moved and approved adding both items to the agenda.

For the snow‑plow, the board authorized the Road and Bridge department head to bid on an auction listing (current bid referenced in the meeting at $6,500) and to remain within the department capital budget. The motion specifically directed the department head to proceed only within his budget authority.

The board also moved to accept the ASI Asphalt Systems Incorporated bid for chip‑seal material at $11.39 per ton and to purchase an estimated 458 tons (transcript reference: approximately 110,000 gallons equivalent). The motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
