- Memorandum of Understanding — Oakland County Health Network and Probate Court (Kevin’s Law): The committee approved a memorandum of understanding establishing participation by the Oakland County Health Network in court-ordered mental health oversight processes required by statute (previously referenced as “Kevin’s Law”). The motion passed 6–0; county probate staff said the MOU formalizes a relationship required by statute and supports deferral hearings and oversight of treatment.
- FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant application: The committee approved requesting the state to apply for a BRIC grant on the county’s behalf for a proposed hardened emergency operations center/9-1-1 facility. Staff said the requested award could be about $43 million for hardening work, with a local match currently estimated at about $10.7 million; the committee approved the application 6–0. Staff noted that applying does not commit the county to construction and that awards are nationally competitive.
- Emerging threats local health department grant amendment (laboratory expansion and wastewater surveillance): The committee approved an amendment to accept state funding (COVID-era emerging threats funds) to expand the county laboratory, add equipment and extend wastewater surveillance for influenza, RSV and norovirus in targeted locations. Leanne Stafford, director of Health and Human Services, said the state provided just over $1.5 million for construction and equipment and funding for part-time laboratory staffing; the motion carried 6–0.

The committee also approved routine items including minutes, agenda, communications and other recommendation items by unanimous voice votes earlier in the meeting.

The reassignment of Children’s Village medical operations was postponed to a special committee meeting March 18 so HR and administration can provide additional detail about staffing transitions, credential timelines and tuition/support options.
