Committee restores cuts affecting county and tribal veteran services officers in Veterans Affairs budget

The Joint Committee on Appropriations set the Department of Veterans Affairs FY26 budget and restored a proposed cut affecting county and tribal veteran services officer funding. Representative Muckey thanked the committee for restoring the cuts proposed to county and tribal veteran services officers (VSOs), expressing appreciation for cooperation that allowed the restoration.
Senator Zickmund and others sought confirmation that the county and tribal VSO funding was included in the final adopted motion sheet. Committee members confirmed those restorations and proceeded to a roll call; the motion was recorded as passing and the budget setting for the Department of Veterans Affairs was set.
The motion to set the Department of Veterans Affairs budgets included $5,592,435 in general funds, $3,417,193 in federal fund expenditure authority, $7,120,309 in other fund expenditure authority, and 147.2 FTEs.
