Committee corrects timing language and advances parity for public-adjuster licensing

House Bill 2,049 (mirror of Senate Bill 28) would make the public-adjuster licensing statute consistent with licensing rules that apply to insurance agents, including provisions for suspension, revocation, denial of licensure and renewal.
The committee considered two amendments. One addressed an inconsistency in timing language where the House had rewritten some deadlines as "14 business days;" senators and revisers said that conflicted with existing statutory practice, so the committee changed certain provisions to read "15 business days" to mirror the Senate position. Senator Gossage explained the fix during debate; Senator Francisco seconded the amendment and it passed by voice vote. A second amendment replaced a publication reference with the Kansas Register. After amendments were adopted, a motion to pass House Bill 2,049 as amended favorably carried by voice vote.
Committee members emphasized the change restores parity between public-adjuster and agent licensing practices and resolves drafting inconsistencies that had appeared in the House version of the bill.
