County staff outline splash-park grant application, say volunteer work and equipment can count toward match

County staff provided details about a planned splash park and a pending grant application to cover part of the project cost, and they said volunteer labor and donated materials can be used to meet the county match requirement.

Courtney McCray briefed officials that the county applied for funds under a House Bill (referred to in the meeting as a house bill funding source) to cover matching funds for the splash-park project. McCray said the county is applying for “House Bill 70 23 funds for your match” and that, if awarded, the county should receive the match. She explained that volunteer labor, equipment use and supplies can be counted toward the local match. “Any time you can do for any of your match, as long as it's volunteer work, any kind of equipment that you use, anything that you purchase like supply wise, it can be used for the whole matching...,” McCray said.

McCray also noted the county would complete required forms for the splash-park funding and expected to submit them; she said staff would sign and process the paperwork.
