District food services reports February meal counts, summer planning and staffing gaps

In a written report read at the meeting, staff said February meals used commodities and deliveries to support student meals and that month-end inventory on hand was noted in the materials as "could be 27,000 for $156" (figures presented in the report). The food service team said planning for the summer feeding program is underway and application work has begun.
The report described a planned LTO (limited time offering) return in April with a turkey-and-apple melt menu item and said food service is preparing separate breakfast accommodations and other supports for PSSSA testing. Staff noted there are six vacant food-service positions across the district; interviews were being scheduled at the time of the report.
The report was attributed to David Stevens, food service director, and committee members asked no follow-up questions during the presentation.
