Collierville OKs $273,687 contract for signal at Highway 72 and Sycamore Road

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted unanimously on March 10 to award the contract for signalization at Highway 72 and Sycamore Road to Shelby Electric, the lowest responsive bidder at $273,687.30.
Deputy Town Engineer Shane Richardson told the board the project is included in the FY2025 CIP and that five contractors requested plans; two submitted bids. Richardson described the contract as a unit-price contract with a 60-day window to begin after notice to proceed.
When asked how the state is involved, Richardson said Highway 72 is a state route and that a set of plans must be submitted to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) for review to ensure they meet state standards; he added that TDOT review and approval have already occurred for this project.
Board members moved and seconded the award and approved it by roll call: Miss Marshall, Mister Stamps, Mister Robbins, Mister Hall, Mister Jordan and Mayor Frasier all voting yes.
Richardson said staff would provide the contract documents and schedule to the town for execution and that TDOT review remains part of the process before construction begins.
