Mid Valley Football seeks home games in Sweet Home; board told practice site approved

During public comment at the Sweet Home School District 55 meeting, Eric Larkin, speaking for Mid Valley Football and Cheer, described the organization's growth and asked the district to consider hosting home youth football games in Sweet Home this season.
Larkin said Mid Valley Football and Cheer began in February 2023 and grew quickly: the first year had about 80 participants and the most recent season about 130 from surrounding communities. He told the board that about seven Sweet Home families participated last year and that eight program players were named to the Oregon Pro Bowl All-State game; four of those players were selected to travel to an IMG Academy all‑American game in Florida.
Larkin said the organization offers tackle and flag football plus cheer, and that this year Mid Valley hopes to field smaller, more competitive third/fourth-grade and fifth/sixth-grade tackle cohorts so younger players receive more playing time and development. He said Mid Valley has coordinated with Sweet Home High School athletic staff and submitted proposed dates for two home games.
During his comments Larkin thanked Mr. Barrett and Superintendent Terry Martin for approving a practice location at Oak Heights. Larkin also said he had discussed scheduling with high-school athletic staff, including Ralph Brown and another athletics staff member listed as Mr. Tao.
Board members did not take action during public comment on home-game requests; district staff indicated they had approved a practice site and will consider scheduling of home contests with high‑school athletics staff.
The public-comment item closed after approximately three minutes of remarks; Larkin left the request with the board for further consideration by district staff.
