The Huron City Commission announced a public information meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025, to review the Dakota Avenue improvements project from Ninth Street South to 20 First Street South.
Commissioner Harvey said the city's work will be coordinated with the South Dakota Department of Transportation's planned road surface project in 2026 and 2027. City staff described proposed work that includes full sanitary sewer replacement (including service lines under the road) between Ninth Street and 20 First Street, storm-sewer replacement on Ninth Street South from Wisconsin Avenue to Kansas Avenue, water-main utility work, and tree replacement in boulevards from Ninth Street to Sixteenth Street.
The commission encouraged residents to attend the March 18 meeting at the Huron Event Center to review plans and ask questions about schedule, traffic impacts, and utility work.
