Board approves letter supporting Downtown Greeley redevelopment plan

The Greeley Evans School District 6 Board of Education unanimously approved a letter of support for a proposed Downtown Greeley redevelopment plan developed by Richmark Properties.
The letter, addressed to the Weld County Commissioners, City of Greeley, Downtown Development Association and Richmark Properties, affirmed the board’s interest in a partnership that could enable facility upgrades, land swaps and keeping district administrative offices in downtown Greeley. The board noted longstanding downtown collaborations, including district arts nights, student performances and internship opportunities.
"We believe a strong downtown is key to the economic and social success of Greeley and are committed to keeping our administration building in the area," the letter states. Board members who spoke in favor cited the district's reliance on and partnership with downtown organizations.
The motion to approve the letter passed 6-0. Voting recorded: Director Azari — Aye; Director Bentley — Aye; Director Campos Spitzy — Aye; Director Masch — Aye; Director Matthews — Aye; Director Sullivan — Aye.
Board members said they would continue to engage with city and county leaders as the proposal moves forward.
