The Beauregard Parish School Board building and grounds committee reviewed a monthly maintenance update that covered work‑order volumes, air‑conditioning and roofing projects, ADA bathroom upgrades and planning for LED lighting at athletic facilities.
Maintenance staff reported 13 new work orders in February and closed 162; HVAC service requests totaled 27 for the month, down 13 from January. Staff moved 17 portables across the parish but left several units at Maryville because the boiler there integrates with the HVAC system and affects dehumidification in that building. Staff said they contacted insurers about possible floor damage and were awaiting an adjuster response.
Contractor work on an HVAC replacement project remained on a six‑page punch list, with two units not working and some rooftop parts pending. Staff said the district is withholding some payments until punch‑list items are corrected and praised CD Morgan for contract oversight and ensuring the engineer approves payments.
Other projects discussed:
• LED lighting bids for football stadiums are near completion; engineers expect the short bid and controlled procurement to allow work to begin soon and for installations to be visible before the end of the school year.
• East Beauregard High School received parking and concession upgrades; staff planned a walk‑through and final punch‑list review this week.
• Ritter Junior High bathroom renovations were described as progressing slowly; staff said the project’s smaller contract size complicated scheduling and that the architect has been asked to increase pressure on the contractor.
• The cafeteria at one school was delayed by nearly three weeks due to HVAC equipment issues; staff said the problem was recently fixed and that the project should be back on schedule for completion before May to support summer feeding programs.
Maintenance staff also noted landscaping and site work at multiple elementary schools, preparation for school fitness meets and work on softball and baseball fields. Committee members asked for updates on insurance claims related to the boiler and for clearer punch‑list timelines; staff said they would follow up with contractors and the district engineer.
