The mayor said the city expects the skatepark to be ready for use by late spring.
Captain Dallas Lister, who led the station during the project, described a four‑year effort involving volunteer labor, landscaping and coordination with public works. Lister said the project “cost about $175,000” and was financed through community grants, state grants and the city.
Separately, Alderman Harry Huntley said the finance committee voted favorably on a transfer of municipal funds to support Truxton Park—specifically moving money earmarked for pickleball lights to the skatepark—though the council record at the March 10 meeting shows the committee recommendation rather than a final council appropriation for that line item.
The project is presented as part of a series of Truxton Park improvements, including a new municipal pool, pickleball and tennis courts, upgraded trails, parking and a boardwalk.
