Commissioners said the update codifies work the commission has already been pursuing—landmark nominations, survey updates, district studies and continuing commissioner training—and gives staff a clearer set of tasks for the coming fiscal cycle. The commission also discussed potential grant support from the Certified Local Government (CLG) program and the possibility of arranging on-site training with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).
The motion to adopt the plan was made during the meeting’s regular business item on the work plan; no public comment was offered during the brief public forum for that item.
Commissioners noted that the city’s fiscal year ends June 30 and that some budgeted funds for landmark surveys are already in the 2026 budget process. Staff said it will present the commission’s budget requests to City Council as part of the budget cycle.
