The Edmond City Council on March 10 approved Ordinance No. 4029 to rezone 820 West Second Street from single-family to a planned unit development (PUD).
Staff described the subject lot as approximately 5,663 square feet and said the PUD design statement limits uses to a two-family dwelling, requires closure of the existing driveway onto West Second and shifts access to the alley with three off-street parking spaces. The site is surrounded on three sides by single-family zoning and to the south by a commercially zoned parcel developed with a Sonic Drive-In.
Staff noted the Edmond Plan 2018 designates the area as "urban neighborhood," where single- and low-density multifamily uses can serve as a transition and support walkability. Planning commission recommended approval on March 4 by a 4–0 vote, and staff recommended approval to city council.
The applicant was present and offered no additional comments on the record. Council members voted to approve the rezoning ordinance; no roll-call tally was provided in the transcript.
The PUD limits and required alley access were included in the design statement as conditions of approval.
