Cranky Park construction inches toward June completion; city plans on-site dedication

City code requires parks or open land to be dedicated by council resolution; staff said they are considering an on-site dedication.
Sheridan Police Chief Kultisca said the dedication could tie to the department’s return from Washington, D.C., where Sergeant Krenke’s name will be inscribed on the memorial during National Police Week. “So without a fitting, hopefully, the park will be completed. … We’ll have the dedication right out in front of the police department, in front of the park with family and friends,” Kultisca said.
Why it matters: The park dedication will provide a public focal point for the memorial and completes a capital project in the city’s park system. Staff said choosing a specific date before construction is finished is difficult, but suggested a mid-June window would increase confidence that the project will be complete.
No formal council action was recorded. Staff will monitor weather-dependent work items and return with a firm date for a dedication resolution when construction is sufficiently complete.
