Commissioners approve first reading to rezone 30-acre Foxland Hall open space to OSRD

The Brentwood Board of Commissioners on March 10 voted unanimously on first reading to rezone roughly 30 acres west of Hunters Lane in the Foxland Hall subdivision from R2 Suburban Residential to OSRD (Open Space Residential Development).
Interim City Manager Jay told the commission staff identified the parcel as being zoned differently from adjacent lots in the subdivision and said the discrepancy may be a "Scrivener's error or a mapping error." Jay said staff and the subdivision—s stakeholders concur that the parcel should be OSRD and recommended approval to correct the zoning.
If the commission approves the rezoning after the remaining steps, the schedule provided on the record calls for a required community meeting on April 3, Planning Commission consideration on April 7, a public hearing before the Board of Commissioners on April 14 and second and final reading on April 28. During the March 10 discussion staff clarified that the parcel is dedicated open space and will not be platted as buildable lots.
The ordinance was introduced as "Ordinance 2025-05, an ordinance rezoning approximately 30 acres of property located West of Hunters Lane in the Foxland Hall subdivision from R2 Suburban Residential to OSRD Open Space Residential Development" and was moved and seconded on the floor. The commission voiced aye and the motion passed unanimously on first reading.
