BSRB to pursue RFP for paid expert review of out-of-jurisdiction educational credentials

Staff recommended the board pursue a request-for-proposals to secure outside expert reviewers who can evaluate education and training for applicants trained in nonaccredited or out-of-jurisdiction programs.
Pfei explained that the board has used a vendor affiliated with the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) to review counseling and addiction-counseling applications when in-state experts are unavailable; CCE has provided timely, quality reports and a predictable flat rate. Because demand can spike and in-state reviewers are limited, staff recommended a competitive RFP to identify additional vendors who can provide similar evaluations for multiple professions.
Board members supported the approach; Pfei asked for volunteers to review RFP language with staff. One board member volunteered to assist; staff will work with the state procurement office to develop and post the RFP and return potential vendor contracts for board review.
