DAS to consolidate audit and administrative staff at 600 North Plankinton (ASQ Center) to save costs and improve collaboration

Celia Benton, director of economic development, presented an informational report on DAS’s planned relocation of administrative and audit personnel from 633 West Wisconsin Avenue to 600 North Plankinton Avenue (ASQ Center) when the current lease ends on July 31, 2025.
Benton said the move aligns with DAS’s strategic plan to reduce the county footprint (consolidating from four floors to a single floor) and to foster collaboration. She listed cost highlights including rent abatement, approximately $1.9 million in savings over the life of the lease compared to current costs, $2,000,000 covered in space modifications by the lessor, and inclusion of furniture, fixtures and equipment in the new lease. Benton noted the Office of Emergency Management will remain at 633 West Wisconsin until it moves to the new forensic science center in 2026.
Staff said architecture and engineering leadership will manage the move and coordinate with the Office of Emergency Management and other affected units to time the relocation with the current lease expiration.
