The Jackson County Public Safety and Transportation Committee on March 10 voted 4-1 to forward an MDOT contract and funding agreement for a shared-use path to the full county board. The total project cost described in committee materials is $3.1 million; JCDOT's attributable share for a road-diet element was listed at $126,000.
Staff asked committee members to reference the map included in meeting materials to identify off-road path sections and the portions funded by Jackson County Parks and JCDOT. Committee discussion confirmed the committee asked the project sponsor to remove a road-diet element on Parnell Road; the portion that remains for JCDOT relates to Lansing Avenue.
Blackman Township concurrence was raised and staff said the township was agreeable. Committee members voted to forward the MDOT contract documents for chair and county administrator signature and the vote to forward the item to the full board was recorded as 4 in favor and 1 opposed.
Staff will bring the MDOT contract and signature documents to the full board for final action.
