Pflugerville planners describe permit process and update timeline for Downtown East project

Pflugerville planning staff described their role in permitting, inspections and project management and provided a status update on the Downtown East project, a 29-acre site the City Council approved last year that will include a three-story, roughly 40,000-square-foot recreation center, a four-story city hall and an 18,000-square-foot civic plaza.

Senior planner Michael Petrowski said the recreation center is the first project moving forward and that staff were “on the last step here and we're hoping that we will soon be clearing all comments and starting construction.” Petrowski said staff inspect for compliance with plan sets and check elements such as building elevations, landscaping, sidewalks and parking to ensure projects serve residents as intended.
