Summit County Health Department staff presented a redesigned one-page (front-and-back) 2024 annual report at the March 3 Board of Health meeting, summarizing highlights across the department and asking the board for feedback on presentation and outreach.
Staff said the shorter format was chosen to improve readability and sustainability compared with prior multi‑page reports. The summary lists division highlights, notes a shift toward more visual elements and photos, and includes a quick budget summary the department said reflects an approximate 60/40 balance between county funds and grant funds.
Board members praised the condensed format and suggested adding infographic elements to call out headline statistics — for example, percentage increases in vaccinations and WIC participation. Staff said the vaccination and WIC percentage increases shown in the report are year‑over‑year comparisons and agreed to add clarifying labels for time periods and base values. Board members asked that staff publish the one-page report on the department website and adapt infographic elements for social media.
Staff also noted specific program highlights on the sheet: expanded environmental health incident responses and air quality monitoring, a successful “vax and go” clinic with a year‑over‑year increase in vaccinations, the Electron solar farm coming online, and outreach to East Side residents and Spanish‑speaking communities. The report will be included in materials to county council as part of the budget process. Staff asked for any final edits and said they will post the finalized version online and promote it through social media and newsletters.
