Planning staff member Hutchison said the change was council-driven as part of a review of boards and committees. Hutchison explained that a six-year term “is a that's pretty good commitment” and that council recommended lowering terms to three years and staggering them so not all seats expire simultaneously. Hutchison said staff will review current terms and adjust incumbents’ end dates in sequence so that only portions of the commission replace at a time.
Motion and vote: A motion to approve ZC-25-1 was made and seconded. Recorded affirmative votes included Commissioner Price and Commissioner Swank; the minutes state “DCDash25Dash1 is approved.” The minutes reflect no recorded ‘no’ votes on the item.
Staff said the commission will follow up by presenting individualized term schedules so each member knows the new expiration date that will apply when the amendment is enacted. No amendments to the draft were recorded during the commission vote.
