The Port Authority of Evansville elected officers for 2025 during its regular meeting on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025. An incumbent board member who spoke as chair was re-elected president by voice vote, Jack Buttrum was nominated and approved as vice chair, and Sheila, a port staff member, was confirmed to continue performing secretarial duties.
The election began after the meeting was called to order and the agenda item for "call and the election of officers" was announced. The chair opened nominations for president; a board member moved and the chair accepted the nomination. The chair then asked for a voice vote; those present answered "aye" and the chair said the election was official for the 2025 term.
The chair nominated Jack Buttrum for vice chair. A board member seconded the nomination and members approved Buttrum by voice vote. When the chair asked for a secretary nomination, board members and staff clarified that secretarial duties—preparing agendas, distributing documents and preparing minutes—have historically been handled by port staff. Sheila agreed to continue those duties; no formal separate election for secretary was recorded.
Board members took no other formal actions related to leadership at the meeting. The chair presided over the remainder of the agenda items and thanked members for participating in the election process.
The meeting adjourned after the remainder of the agenda was completed.
