Calvin Ho, legislative aide to President Mandelmann, introduced the item and said, "Our nation is in a state of crisis," and described the request as a way for city offices to "solicit donations to cover goods and services, including legal services, to protect our immigrant and LGBTQ plus communities, and defend reproductive rights" while continuing regular city legal work.
