Committee continues Embarcadero Plaza solicitation item for further scope refinements

The Government Audit and Oversight Committee on Feb. 20 voted to continue consideration of a resolution authorizing the mayor’s office and the Recreation and Park Department to solicit donations for renovation of Embarcadero Plaza and Sue Bierman Parks until the committee’s next meeting.
Supervisor Sauter, who described the Embarcadero Plaza project as “critical to our downtown revitalization,” said he wished to continue the item to finalize the scope of the proposed behested payment waiver and the roles of the mayor’s office and Rec and Park. Supervisor Jackie Fielder supported continuing the item to clarify how broadly the waiver would apply.
Lisa Branson, director of partnerships at the Recreation and Park Department, was listed as the presenter but the committee did not reach a final agreement on the scope. No members of the public spoke on the continuance. Vice Chair Sauter moved to continue the item to the committee’s March 6 meeting; the motion passed unanimously with Sauter, Sheryl, and Fielder recorded as “aye.”
