The Moroni City Council approved updated contracts for the Miss Moroni pageant, adding separate agreements for Miss Moroni, Junior Miss and Little Miss and approving modest stipends for the younger titleholders.
Councilmember Sherry Green presented the revised contracts and said organizers had added provisions the city lacked previously, including appearances for Memorial Day and the Moroni Fourth festivities. Green said the updated packet separates the three titles into individual contracts and adds a clause that royalty who fail to participate in the Fourth of July festivities would forfeit their crown.
Green told council the proposed stipend amounts would be $35 to go toward Junior Miss’s dress and $20 for Little Miss. She also said organizers hope to charge admission for the pageant in the future to help fund additional payments to junior titleholders, but no change to that practice was adopted at the meeting.
Councilmember Aldridge moved to approve the Miss Moroni, Junior Miss and Little Miss contract agreements as presented; the motion was seconded by Councilmember Prestwich. The council voted unanimously in favor.
