Jess Peterson, a representative of R6 Regional Council, told the Meadow Town Council that R6 administers a range of programs across six counties, manages about 55 contracts with state and federal partners, and provides services including housing and assistance for aging veterans.
Peterson said R6 produces an annual report with county-level breakdowns and statistics and that the council has not done a strong job of publicizing that work locally. She asked the town to refer residents to R6 programs such as heat assistance and offered to provide contact names and emails for program administrators.
Peterson also announced an R6 Regional Growth Summit scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, at Snow College in Richfield. The summit will be free, geared toward rural municipalities, staff, planning and zoning officials, and will cover topics such as land use, legal issues, and budgeting. Peterson said she will circulate registration information by email in the coming weeks.
No formal council action was recorded on the presentation; the item was an informational report during the public comments/scheduled topics portion of the meeting.
