Planning commission approves above-ground fuel tanks at Crapo convenience store

The Dorchester County Planning Commission approved a proposal to install two above-ground fuel tanks and associated pumps at a convenience store on Lakesville-Crapo Road.
Applicant David Beckwood described the proposal as two above-ground tanks and pumps to serve roughly the local community. Beckwood said the installation would be simple, would not include card readers and would replace an historic fuel pump location adjacent to the existing building.
Planning staff told the applicant the site must meet a 35-foot setback from the property line and that the county would supply the relevant code citation and that building and electrical permits would be required. Staff also reported that the application met the county’s regulations for the use.
After questions from commissioners about permits, setbacks and regulatory oversight from weights and measures and the county’s environmental health office, a commissioner moved a favorable recommendation and the planning commission voted in the affirmative.
Action taken: planning commission approved the proposal to install two above-ground fuel tanks and related infrastructure at the specified location; applicant was advised to obtain required building, electrical and regulatory permits.
