County reminds staff shred truck is paper-only after recent shutdown; outlines proper materials and staples guidance

So we're getting a lot of expandable files, plastic type material… We had an accidental issue with another office. We had to shut up the truck down," the official said. Staff asked departments to limit submissions to paper and standard staples.
Officials clarified that regular staples are acceptable but heavy plastic covers, metal binding, laminated materials and binder clips may damage the equipment or lengthen processing time. The county said it frequently makes runs to a paper repulping facility for non‑sensitive paper that does not require shredding.
Staff urged departments to contact the records team to arrange recycling or shredding and to avoid sending items that are not paper only. No procurement or policy change was recorded during the work session.
