Beaver County staff announced that the county's Waste Advisory Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 28 to close out a waste‑generation review and begin the legal process for procuring landfill capacity.
A department official said the meeting will cover how the county will solicit landfill capacity and the procurement steps that will follow. The meeting will be held in person, with public observation in the observation deck area, and a virtual option also will be available.
The official said the county received a grant covering 80% of the consultant's cost to prepare the landfill procurement plan. "We also received a grant for coverage of 80% of the consultant's cost to prepare that plan," the official said. The county did not specify the grant source name or the consultant's total fee during the work session.
Staff asked members of the public who want to attend in person to email the county so staff can arrange access. No formal decisions were made at the Feb. 12 work session; staff said the Feb. 28 meeting will begin the next phase of the procurement process.
