County says lift-station pump failure is an emergency; Pittsburgh Pump available same day

A department head said the pump predates the current administration and was last rebuilt in February 2015 for $3,486.10. "We're manually pumping it right now, so we don't have backup into the, ice arena facility," the department head said. He said two vendors were contacted; Pittsburgh Pump could collect and begin evaluation the same day, while a second vendor estimated a one‑to‑two‑week lead time.
The department head said vendors had warned they could not give a firm repair estimate until they remove and disassemble the pump. "I can't get an exact quote or an estimate from these folks to do this to rebuild this pump because they said we don't know what they're gonna get into until they come and they remove the pump, take it to the pump, take it apart," he said. The county described the situation as an emergency and said staff want to proceed promptly.
Commissioners discussed bid thresholds and emergency procurement; staff indicated the likely cost increase above the 2015 figure but did not give a final amount at the work session. No formal procurement action was recorded in the Feb. 12 work session.
