The Shelbyville Beer Board on Jan. 8 voted to issue a show-cause order for Bar 69 after staff presented an incident report describing a fight in the establishment’s parking lot that resulted in arrests for public intoxication.
Board staff said the report indicated multiple people were involved and that both parties were arrested; Deputy Chief Mathis was present for questions about the police report. Board members recalled earlier incidents involving the same establishment and said the board had previously deferred action pending further developments. One member said the board previously discussed parking-lot security at a show-cause proceeding and that additional information about the establishment’s security measures and oversight would be relevant.
Given the recent arrest report and the history of prior incidents, a board member made a motion for a show-cause order; the motion was seconded and carried. The board instructed staff to place the matter on a show-cause agenda for review of security measures and overserving concerns and to request police and establishment representatives to attend.
