Superintendent reports steady enrollment, benchmark completion and facility updates

Satterfield told the board that most second-quarter benchmarks were completed before winter break. One school reported 305 of 323 students completed benchmarks before the break; the district's overall data was available to administrators on the first day back in January. The district is conducting AIMSweb winter universal screeners; staff said an AIMSweb outage briefly inactivated some student records overnight and delayed testing, but the screener was restored and testing resumed the same day.
Satterfield also reported operational updates: the elementary roof replacement was finished; crews completed clean-up and are awaiting 32 ceiling tiles that were ordered and will be installed by district staff when received. Construction on the district's field house (referred to as the fill house in the packet) is underway — form work for retaining walls is being built — but concrete pours may be delayed several days because concrete requires at least 40 degrees for 24 hours to cure properly and colder weather is forecast.
The superintendent said the district posted summer learning camp dates in June and urged families to save the dates; additional details will be published later.
During the meeting board members raised concerns about student conduct and placement at TCAT (the technical college). Administrators described repeated misconduct incidents at TCAT, noting that TCAT's program population skews older (many clients in their 20s) and that the district plans a pre-placement orientation and tighter expectations for students assigned to TCAT programs.
