Chester County marks Mental Health Month; officials highlight Human Needs Network and mobile crisis response

The Board of Commissioners recognized National Mental Health Month during the meeting and heard from county mental-health staff about recent program activity and crisis-response statistics.
Candy Craig, deputy administrator for Chester County’s Department of Mental Health, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (MHIDD), thanked the board for recognizing Mental Health Month and described county investments in mental-health programs, partnerships and crisis intervention services. Craig said the county’s Human Needs Network — launched about a year earlier — supported more than 18,000 calls in 2024 and that the county’s mobile crisis resolution team responded to just under 1,000 dispatches to the community.
Craig said the 24/7 confidential Human Needs Network helps residents connect to services and that county staff coordinate a calendar of community mental-health events. Commissioners applauded the work and noted the county’s focus on pairing services with other initiatives when discussing public-safety and community supports.
No board action was required; the recognition was a proclamation and an informational update about county programs.
