The Huron City Commission on June 16 approved transferring a land lease for the city's cell tower site from the prior tenant to Towers LLC and authorized the mayor to sign the notice of commencement. Staff said Towers LLC is the successor by assignment to the prior tenant and that the commencement date is July 1.
A presenter identified as Chad said Towers LLC has equipment on site and will have 90 days after the July 1 commencement to provide the city's first payment. "The Towers LLC is the successor by assignment from Condent Cellular. So they've taken upon that agreement. And I'm asking approval for the mayor to... sign that notice of commencement date, which is July 1," Chad said.
Commissioner Smith asked how the land deal was mitigated with a potential LWCF grant. Chad said the city had not received word from the state about the grant and that if the land study or fee is required the city would pay it. "We have not heard anything yet... If it is, we'll pay that fee to do the land study," Chad said.
The commission approved the transfer and authorization by roll call: Smith — aye; Coop/Clute — aye; Brian/Bragg — aye; Harvey — aye; Mayor Robich — aye.
The item authorizes the mayor to sign notice of commencement for the initial term and related payment-direction forms to enable the project to proceed.
