The Tamworth Select Board voted on June 10 to accept a bid from Barrington Solar to install rooftop solar on the Clough Memorial Library, a project funded primarily by a grant from the New Hampshire Department of Energy.
Town staff said the grant approved at town meeting totaled $43,782. The accepted bid from Barrington Solar is $43,085; staff said an estimated $1,600 for permits, fees and possible distribution upgrades may not be covered by the grant and will be paid separately by the town if required.
Board members discussed administrative steps the contractor must follow before installation. Staff said the state’s grant administrator has contracted project monitors who will inspect equipment before installation, and that a Davis–Bacon Act monitor will require weekly payroll submissions through an online portal for contractors receiving federal funds. Town staff told the board the contractor reported having personnel familiar with those requirements.
A Select Board member made the motion to accept the proposal from Barrington Solar (the company indicated it had changed its name from Barrington Power). The board approved the motion by roll call vote; the motion passed and the contractor said it would coordinate with town staff to schedule the work.
No construction schedule was finalized at the meeting; staff said timing depends on the grant manager’s inspections and the contractor’s coordination with the town administrator. The board instructed staff to coordinate closely with the vendor and the grant’s project monitor.
