The Clearfield County Salary Board voted to approve pay and create three positions in the Public Defender’s Office, the board said during its meeting. The board approved setting the salary for a vacant existing public defender position at $54,000 annually, effective June 10, 2025.
The board also approved creation of a temporary public defender law clerk position with a starting salary of $44,000 annually, effective June 10, 2025; the position is intended for a new law school graduate awaiting Pennsylvania bar exam results in October 2025. Finally, the board created a summer certified legal intern position, with weekly pay set at $250 and an effective date of June 2, 2025.
Jendi Schwab, chief public defender, presented the requests and the board approved each item by voice vote. The Salary Board approved its prior minutes from the May 13, 2025 salary-board meeting and then adjourned.
Minutes and motions recorded at the meeting indicate unanimous voice approval on the motions; no roll-call vote tally with member names was provided in the transcript.
