Committee reallocates funds to keep election results and media displays running

The committee approved a budget reallocation to cover Comcast and related TV/media display services used to publish election information and county notices.
Dwight Seals, chief deputy clerk, said the reallocation covers an increased line-item cost for Comcast service that pushes content to in-office screens and public displays. Seals described the change as an intra-budget move and said it was not intended as a remedy for previously perceived delays in election-night reporting; he noted those delays stem from how municipal results are submitted to the county rather than the display service itself.
“It's going to allow us to broadcast, to put that information on the screen so that way the public can get” the results, Seals said. He added that county staff must still wait for 43 separate communities to transmit results and that the county posts them after receiving local submissions.
The reallocation was approved as part of the bundled items the committee adopted.
