The Emery County Commission approved the county’s 2025 tax sale proceedings and authorized staff to record deeds for four properties sold at a May 22 sale.
County staff reported that the tax sale attracted 18 bidders and that four properties were sold. The report listed the four sales, with minimum bids and sale prices as follows:
- Property titled to Jacqueline Jones had a minimum bid of $4,948.30 and sold to Matthew Macarelli for $500. (record shows sale price lower than minimum listed in staff remarks; county said it keeps the portion of the minimum bid) - Property with owner listed as Lucas Murray had a minimum bid of $8,339.70 and sold to Todd Mars for $9,000. - A second property with owner Lucas Murray had a minimum bid of $8,166.40 and sold to Todd Mars for $20,500. - Property owned by James Potter had a minimum bid of $5,002.48 and sold to Joseph Huff for $48,000.
The county clerk noted that the county retains the portion of the minimum bid; any excess funds are returned to the original owner or held as unclaimed property. Commissioners voted to approve the sale proceedings so deeds can be recorded in the recorder’s office.
Commissioners present voted aye and the motion passed.
