A representative from the county Cooperative Extension told the Government Services Committee that June is dairy month, the Sullivan Fresh Market will open June 26, and the extension has been active on farmland preservation and right-to-farm work.
The extension said it has coordinated with the county Department of Public Works to place new "right to farm" signs in municipalities that have adopted right-to-farm protections. The extension also reported conducting workshops for planning and zoning board members that qualify for training credits and said it is collaborating with the Orange County Land Trust on farmland-preservation efforts.
The extension noted upcoming presentations to county committees on the Community Preservation Act and said staff have been busy with inquiries and community events, including recent open-house and outreach activities.
The committee thanked extension staff for the report.
