Edgecombe commissioners adopt resolutions honoring Reverend Thomas L. Walker and former Tarboro councilman John Jenkins

The Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners on June 2 adopted two resolutions honoring local public servants.
The board unanimously approved a resolution honoring the late Reverend Dr. Thomas L. Walker for more than five decades of ministry at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Rocky Mount and for civic leadership including radio ministry, youth mentorship and service on the county commission. The resolution notes his induction into the Twin Counties Hall of Fame in 2010 and records the board’s appreciation for his contributions.
The board also adopted a resolution recognizing John Jenkins for more than two decades of service on Tarboro Town Council and for “thoughtful leadership, warm spirit, and tireless commitment” to the community. Both resolutions were read into the record and approved by voice vote; the board said they will ensure copies are delivered to family members.
These actions were ceremonial recognitions and required no further administrative steps beyond transmitting the resolutions to the honorees’ families.
